Fellowship to Germany
I'm very fortunate to be partaking in an amazing journey to Germany, courtesy of the Transatlantic Outreach Program / Goethe Institute. I will be traveling with 15 other people from across the United States, in an effort to learn more about the wonderful country of Germany.
What did i have to do to participate?
Being a member of the TOP German Fellowship is an extraordinary experience. It is my first fellowship I've ever applied for and received (not bad start!). After seeing what the program had to offer, I was amazed that this experience existed. See the video above for a brief overview of the program. Personally, I had to fill out the application. This consisted primarily of two 750 word essays. I also had to have letters of recommendation from two individuals. Finally, as an optional task, I facilitated two workshops and I wrote an overview of a lesson. I was amazed at the quality of the lesson that was available through the TOP website. The coordinator of the program, Jenny Windell was very helpful throughout the application process and was more than willing to provide free copies of workshop information, answer questions, and provide actually amazingly useful lesson materials. She also provided enough copies of the lessons and units that I was able to give them to each of the other middle school World Studies and German classes.
